Abstract
Smart home security and automation systems are becoming increasingly essential in modern residential and commercial spaces, enhancing safety, comfort, and energy efficiency. This project presents the design and implementation of a Smart Home Security & Automation System with Multi-Modal Access, integrating a range of technologies including biometric recognition (fingerprint), RFID, keypad entry, and mobile app control to provide flexible and secure access control. The system is built using an Arduino Uno microcontroller, fingerprint sensor module, RFID reader, keypad, and a GSM or Wi-Fi-based communication module for remote access and alerts.
The system not only restricts unauthorized access through multi-layer authentication but also integrates automation features such as real-time lighting, door lock control, and appliance management. In case of unauthorized attempts or intrusions, the system sends instant alerts via SMS or app notifications, enhancing real-time monitoring. An OLED or LCD display provides user-friendly feedback and system status.
Designed to be user-configurable, scalable, and cost-effective, this system offers improved home security, convenience, and energy savings. It reduces reliance on physical keys and allows residents to monitor and control their homes from anywhere. Ideal for smart homes, offices, and rental properties, the project combines access flexibility with robust security, promoting a smarter and safer living environment.
