Enhancing Data Security Through Elliptic Curve Cryptography: A Comprehensive Review

Abstract

Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) has emerged as a cornerstone of modern cryptographic systems, offering robust security with unparalleled efficiency. This paper provides a critical analysis of ECC’s mathematical foundations, practical applications, and evolving challenges in securing data across industries such as IoT, blockchain, and 5G. By comparing ECC with legacy algorithms like RSA and addressing vulnerabilities such as side-channel attacks and quantum threats, this review highlights the need for adaptive strategies, including hybrid post-quantum systems and hardware-based security enhancements.
