Title

The Flexibility Paradox: A Critical Analysis of Perceived vs. Actual Effectiveness of Remote Work Policies in Mumbai’s IT Sector

Abstract

This study explores the reality of remote work and flexible policies in the Mumbai IT sector. While many companies introduced these policies after the pandemic to help employees, this research investigates if they are actually working. Primary data was collected from 157 individuals through a questionnaire method who were working in the IT and ITeS sectors of Mumbai. The study reveals a "Flexibility Paradox"—where policies exist on paper, but employees rate them as ineffective due to high workload and an expectation to be available 24/7. The study suggests that without setting clear boundaries on working hours, flexible work just becomes "overwork."

Key Words
