Title

Integrating Open Educational Resources in STEM Education: Teaching Innovation, Open Laboratories, and Research Communication

Abstract

Open Educational Resources (OER) have emerged as a transformative innovation in higher education by providing freely accessible and reusable learning materials for students and educators. The integration of OER in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education has the potential to enhance teaching innovation, improve student engagement, and strengthen research communication. This study examines the role of OER in promoting innovative teaching practices, open laboratory learning, and academic knowledge sharing in undergraduate STEM education. A mixed-method research design was adopted involving surveys, interviews, classroom observations, and academic performance analysis among undergraduate students and faculty members. The results indicate that OER significantly improves student participation, collaborative learning, and conceptual understanding. Students using OER-based learning resources demonstrated better academic performance compared to those using traditional learning materials. The study also highlights the importance of virtual laboratories and open digital platforms in providing practical learning opportunities. The findings suggest that effective institutional policies, digital infrastructure, and faculty training are essential for successful implementation of OER in higher education institutions.
