Title

Artificial Intelligence–Driven Pedagogical Innovations in English Literature Classrooms: A Study of Telangana Government Degree Colleges

Authors

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies has significantly transformed pedagogical practices in higher education across disciplines. While AI integration has been extensively studied in science and technology education, its application in humanities classrooms—particularly English literature—in Indian public higher education institutions remains underexplored. This study investigates AI-driven pedagogical innovations in undergraduate English literature classrooms in Telangana Government Degree Colleges. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected from 62 English faculty members and 214 undergraduate students across eight government colleges. The study examines awareness levels, patterns of AI usage, perceived pedagogical benefits, and implementation challenges. Findings indicate moderate to high awareness (78%) of AI tools among participants, with reported improvements in student engagement (72%), interpretative depth (64%), and personalized feedback (69%). However, infrastructural deficits, faculty training gaps, digital inequality, and concerns regarding academic integrity pose significant barriers. The study argues that structured institutional policy frameworks, ethical guidelines, and sustained professional development programs are essential for responsible AI integration in humanities education. The findings contribute to the emerging discourse on AI in literature pedagogy within Indian public higher education contexts.
