Title

Transforming Language Assessment Practices in Higher Education Using Artificial Intelligence and Open Educational Resources

Abstract

Language assessment plays a central role in language education, influencing curriculum planning, teaching strategies, learner motivation, and academic progression. Conventional language assessment methods largely depend on standardized examinations and manual evaluation techniques, which often lack flexibility, inclusiveness, timely feedback, and scalability. For example, traditional assessments frequently employ rigid rubrics that fail to accommodate diverse linguistic backgrounds, learning styles, and socio-cultural contexts. Such limitations are increasingly evident in multilingual and heterogeneous classrooms, particularly in higher education. Open Educational Resources (OER) directly address these challenges by offering adaptable, culturally relevant, and openly accessible assessment materials that can be modified to suit local contexts and learner needs.
