Title

Open Educational Resources in the AI Era: Transforming Research and Academic Practices in Library and Information Science

Abstract

This paper examines the convergence of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and analyzes their transformative impact on research and academic practices in Library and Information Science (LIS). Adopting a qualitative and descriptive research design based on secondary literature, policy frameworks, and global best practices, the study explores the evolution of OER in the AI era and its implications for academic libraries. The findings indicate that AI-powered tools enhance discoverability, personalization, research productivity, and open scholarship, while simultaneously raising concerns regarding ethical governance, digital inequality, and professional skill gaps. The paper highlights the strategic role of academic libraries and LIS professionals in integrating OER and AI to promote sustainable, inclusive, and innovation-driven higher education ecosystems.
