Title

Awareness and assessment of risk factors Associated with heart failure among Indian people: A questionnaire survey

Abstract

The number and severity of Heart Failure (HF) is increasing in India and all over the world. So, there is need of spreading awareness as well as risk factors of Heart Failure (HF) amongst the Indian people. The early detection which helps in the prevention of Heart Failure (HF) is necessary to fight against the increasing number of patients. Considering Heart Failure (HF) as most prevalent in Indian old age people, this study is carried out with the aim of creating awareness and analysing the knowledge about risk factors, signs and symptoms of Heart Failure (HF). The data was collected from both urban and rural regions of Maharashtra. A total 203 people from a variety of occupations, including age above 40 and old people. People participants have submitted their responses on an online self- administered questionnaire. Additionally, the participants also reported poor knowledge about the early detection techniques HF the need of awareness about the early detection, risk factors and signs and symptoms of HF. The survey focused on participants' understanding of heart failure symptoms, knowledge of modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors, and their awareness of preventive measures. This study has emphasized on the need for more public health campaigns aimed at increasing heart health literacy in India, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Such efforts could help reduce the burden of heart failure by promoting early detection and encouraging healthier lifestyle choices among at-risk individuals.
