Title

Impact of Mobile Phone on Memory, Sleep, Social Interaction and Eye Sight- A Case study of Rampur Bushahr and Adjoining Areas

Abstract

Abstract This project report presents a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of mobile phone usage, with a particular focus on its effects on memory, sleep quality, social interaction, and eyesight. As mobile devices become deeply integrated into daily life, especially among young adults, concerns about their excessive use and its physiological and psychological consequences have intensified. This study explores the prevalence of mobile phone-induced strain and its correlation with disrupted sleep patterns, reduced cognitive function, weakened interpersonal relationships, and visual health issues. The research includes a detailed examination of mobile phone habits, highlighting usage duration, time of use (particularly before bedtime), and purpose (academic, social, etc.). Through descriptive and statistical analysis, the study identifies significant trends and differences based on demographic factors such as age and gender. It investigates how late-night screen exposure affects circadian rhythms and memory retention, how overreliance on digital communication may erode face-to-face social skills, and how prolonged screen time contributes to eye fatigue and visual discomfort. Key findings reveal alarming patterns, on decreased information retention, decreased sleep duration and quality, difficulty concentrating, eye strain symptoms, and declining social engagement. These trends point to a growing need for awareness and intervention strategies targeting responsible mobile phone use and digital well-being. This report contributes to the existing literature by contextualizing the digital habits of college students within broader health and academic outcomes.
