ABSTRACT: The Textile industry dominates a major place in the Economy of the country because of its contribution to the industrial output, employment generation and foreign exchange earnings. Indian Weaving Industry has conventionally been one of the most promising sectors of huge employment. In fact, after agriculture, the Weaving Industry is largest provider of work force. There was abundance of raw materials and the continuous supply of cheap work force once in this sector which was the contributing factors behind the success of the weaving industry of India. However, the liberalization of the international trade along with change in the reforms of domestic economy led to the drastic downfall of the Indian Weaving Industry. In specific Pallipalayam selection Grade census town in Namakkal district or in near Erode District, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu is based on power looms and its allied industries.The main occupational functions of Pallipalayam town falls under the category of other workers viz., Trade and commerce , Transport and communication, construction and other services, House hold industry , Manufacturing , processing , servicing and repairs , agriculture and allied activities. Therefore Pallipalayam is a noted centre for the production of hand loom fabrics and another important industry of this area is the production of cotton carpets. This study is aimed to understand the functioning and performance of Power Looms and thereby support the reviving aspects of Power Loom owners in their business.
