ASP.NET is a web application framework developed and marketed by Microsoft to allow programmers to build dynamic web sites. ASP.NET is a web development platform, which provides a programming model, a comprehensive software infrastructure and various services required to build up robust web applications for PC, as well as mobile devices. ASP.NET supports Web Services, A web service is a component that resides in a web server and provides information and services to other network applications. It uses protocols such as HTTP, and SOAP (simple object access protocol) to deliver information and services. In other words, a web service is a software program that uses XML to exchange information with other software. It uses internet protocols for exchange. There are three major web service components available in asp.net like SOAP, WSDL and UDDI. Another way we can describe the components of Web services into different category like : The method of transmission, The method used to wrap the web service up and The way the web service is defined Web services are a method of making information available that could be accessed by any developer’s application over the Web
