The objective of the study was to give a clear idea about the research trend in history of education since independence to 2000. In this study the content analysis and evaluative survey method was adopted. In this study 1st to 6th “A Survey of Research in Education” was critically evaluated. The data was collected from different sources such as 1st to 6th ‘A Survey of Research in Education”, different books online journals etc. Research status of History of Education is not so well like other field of Educational Research. During the 4th and 5th decades of the previous century such researches were rare enough. Most of the researches took place during the 6th 7th and 8th decades. Except few Universities these researches become again almost rare. Most of the studies were mainly regional survey about educational development
