Pithukkuli Murugadas as a Devotional Singer performed his own compositions on stage. He has composed a number of Tamil compositions on almost all the Hindu deities. He used simple Tamil words and commonly used ragas with few sangatis in most of his compositions, though we can find a variety of ragas including the rare ones in his compositions. Apart from the common format of Pallavi, Anupallavi and Charanam, his compositions are also set to Pallavi- Multiple Charanams format and pallavi- anupallavi- charanam- madhyama kala sahitya format. Few of his compositions are discussed in this study to analyze the various musical aspects in his compositions.
