Title

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF EFFICIENT STREET LIGHT MECHANISM

Abstract

Street Light Control System which operates automatically is not only simple but also the intelligent system, which uses AT89C52 microcontroller. This system can be set to operate in automatic mode, which regulates the streetlight according to brightness and dimness. By using this system manual works are totally removed. It automatically turns ON lights when the sunlight intensity become low. This is done by a sensor called LDR which senses the light. When the object is detected by the IR sensor the Street light will glow with 100 percent intensity and when the object is passed away the street light remain with 50 percent intensity. The energy consumption is also reduced by using this because nowadays the manually operated street lights are not switched off even when the sun rises and also switched on earlier before sunset. In this project, there is no need of setting ON time and OFF time manually. The system can be widely applied in all places which need timely control such as streets, stations, mining, schools, and electricity sectors and so on. In addition, the system can be improved in terms of power consumption by using solar power as the input power supply. This design can save a great amount of electricity compared to the earlier design.
