Green buildings - Also known as green construction or sustainable buildings are the structures that are constructed taking care of the environmental issues and resources efficiency throughout the phases of construction to maintenance to renovation to deconstruction . The main objective is that green buildings are designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment in terms of tangible benefits (energy and water savings) and intangible benefits associated to green. At present, India has many Platinum, Gold rated Green Buildings which are running efficiently and contributing reduction in their carbon footprint helping to save Planet, Earth. These live examples of energy efficient building demonstrating their performance give the motivation to flag the construction of more new buildings as Green Buildings. Green Hills, ONGC Tel Bhawan Campus, Dehradun, is one such examples which has incorporated relevant and latest features, of the “Green Building”. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED - INDIA) India Rating System was licensed the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has awarded this building as the prestigious ‘platinum rating’.
