Title

MYSTICISM IN TAGORE’S GITANJALI

Abstract

The English Gitanjali is a collection of one hundred and three poems. A large number of them are translations from the Bengali Gitanjali while others have been translated from Kheya, Naivedya beauty and rhythm of the original poems has been lost in translating them into English. While it is true that the Bengali Gitanjali has superb music and delicate metrical patterns all its own, the English Gitanjali also has a rhythm and a melody peculiar to itself.
