Title

VALUE ADDITION 0F ORNAMENTAL CROPS: A REVIEW

Abstract

Value addition in ornamental crops involves processing and enhancing the value of flowers and foliage beyond their basic form, creating higher-priced products and reducing post-harvest losses. This can be achieved through various methods, including processing, packaging and quality enhancement. Value addition can be done by fresh flower arrangement, floral products, tinting of flowers, plant pigments and dye, extraction of essential oils, extraction of organic colours. The employment and income rate will also get increased by value addition. Some of the flowers like marigold contains antioxidant activities and moreover taking lutein can help to cure even age-related muscular diseases.
