The mode of action of kalpa which is specially herbomineral in nature is very crucial to understand. In Ayurved saar sangraha two different type of formulations are described with name Sutshekhar Rasa. i.e. Sutshekhar Rasa with gold and sutshekhar ras without gold preparations which are available in market with the name Suvarna Sutshekhar Rasa (with gold) and Sada Sutshekhar. Now days there are many Ayurvedic practioner widely use this both sutshekhar ras i.e. with and without gold in different ayurvedic pathologies like Amlapitta, Agnimandya, Chardi, Aantric Sannipata like pitta dosha pradhanvyadhi. The present study aimed to critically review the ingredients of this formulation and a probable mode of action of Sutshekhar Rasa in different clinical conditions by describing the properties of each of the ingredients.
