Tashaqquqe Qadam (Plantar keratoderma ) is a disorder of cracking and thickening of the plantar skin, mentioned in the modern medical literature among a heterogeneous group of hereditary or acquired disorders of keratinization, called keratoderma², or palmoplantar keratoderma. It mostly affects the skin of the palms and soles, , , often presenting with painful fissures that can affect mobility and thus quality of life . Modern treatments provides symptomatic relief with varying degree of effectiveness, which include emollients, keratolytics, retinoids, and corticosteroids , while Unani treatment consists of the Unani drugs; Musaffiyat (Blood purifier), Murattibat (Moisturizer) orally and Mudammil (Healing drug), Murattib (Moisturizer), and Muqashshir (keratolytics) for local applications.
