Authors

Abstract

The paper tries to analyse the various discourses prevalent at a particular time to show the discursive practices of power. In order to show the changing discourses of power in the Indian society, two novels separated by time: Nayanthara Sahgah’s Rich like Us and Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger are chosen. The novel Rich Like Us is preoccupied with the organizational aspect of society and the modalities of the distribution of power. Along with the chronicling of the politics of the period Sahgal describes how a particular section of the society looks at the political events and how they respond to such situations. B The novel, The White Tiger depicts how Balram became a successful businessman through manipulating the social structure.
