Abstract: The Mid-Day Meal Scheme, launched in Assam in 2005, aims to improve enrollment and quality of education in government schools. The scheme provides free cooked lunches to primary and upper primary students. This initiative is implemented under the supervision of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, with the involvement of Village Education Committees, School Management Committees, and mother groups. The state government has taken measures to ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme, including the translation of Mid-Day Meal Rules, 2015, into local languages and conducting training programs for stakeholders. This review highlights the initiatives taken by the Assam government to implement the Mid-Day Meal Scheme effectively.
