Religious tourism is a category of tourism primarily motivated by religious considerations. India is a land of pilgrimage. Travel for religious purposes has been there from the most ancient times.Presently, the religious tourism is a mixture of both ancient and modern cultures, i.e., from the past to the present day where religious tourism has become a mainstay of tourism. Majuli is one of the premier places of the Vaishnavite culture. Every year a large number of tourists visited to Majuli for experiencing religious activities of Satras. In the present study, an attempt has been made to assess the prospects and problems of religious tourism in the study area.
