“DARUHARIDRA - AN AYURVEDIC LITERATURE REVIEW”
Abstract
Daruharidra (Berberis aristata DC.), belonging to the family Berberidaceae, is an important medicinal plant described extensively in Ayurvedic literature. Its characteristic yellow-coloured wood forms the basis of its nomenclature, and it is known by several synonyms reflecting its morphological and therapeutic attributes. Classical Ayurvedic texts have described Daruharidra under different Gana and Varga classifications and documented its use in a wide range of disorders.
