The purpose of this paper is to examine the gender Discrimination in Mahesh Dattani’s plays “Tara”. He deals with the theme of gender discrimination in the play Tara. This paper tries to discuss the issue of marginalisation of women in the play. Chandan is a boy child is like to Tara a girl child in an Indian family. An effort to study gender discrimination on this paper the only injustice done to a community, gender and the desire for a male child in an Indian family. The play relates to the emotional and physical division of the Siamese twins. The play introduces about the deep rooted patriarchal method system in the society. Girls dominate women’s dominance patriarchal values remain. In this play Tara’s own mother spoils her daughter’s life. And suffering from a long run due to her humanitarian operation. This play Mahesh reveal heartless behaviour of society to person with disabilities. He gave bharati and her father a bribe for the operation that led to Tara’s death.
