This review explores the fields of innovation and design thinking, examining their principles, frameworks, and applications across various industries. Innovation, a fundamental driver of competitive advantage and growth, is increasingly pursued through design thinking, a human-centred and creative problem-solving approach. This paper provides a synthesis of recent literature, focusing on twenty studies published between 2015 and 2023, and discusses the key elements of innovation, the phases of design thinking, and the impact of this framework on product development and organisational strategies. By consolidating insights across different research disciplines, this review highlights the importance of embedding design thinking in fostering innovation within organisations.
